All by myself ...

Went for walk at MacRitchie this morning. Was there at almost 9am. Decided to walk the 10km route and since there are lots of people, I went the TreeTop Walk. Oh yes it was not fun having to walk alone. And I can't imagine how come I could do 5 rounds last yr. Come to think of it ... I must be Crazy! Don't know if I want to do it again this year.

Ran a bit to test my new NIKE shoe.. shiok! Next week will come again to run instead. Hope to start as early at 7 am so that i can finish before the sun is up.

Left MR at 11am.. go eat and home ... slept the whole afternoon. Didn't do anything much, infact didn't do anything at all. So damn lazy to do the laundry. Should be ironing my uniform right now, see what I'm doing now!

Better sleep... have to leave home at 6am. Finish work at 3pm... after that, don't know what to do... again...

Maybe, I'll sort the bio past year papers for my buddy. She has to retake the paper this Thursday. Intend to accompany her for remedial this Wednesday. Have to complete the case study this week.. *sigh* guessed i have jus planned my week. Doing nothing interesting..... can't wait for sch break. Hopefully, got things to do on that 2weeks of break fr 17th June to 3rd July..

me young-old

Yep.. I have just turned 34 yesterday but don't feel like one. Thanks to kev, who has been pampering me... i am enjoying it of cos...But why can't I behave like a thirty-something? Be like any other mature women who talk, walk and dress like a woman ,gentle and lady-like... be less childish and think maturely.. Even the 20-something may be more womanly and me...Whatmore, been married for almost 9yrs .. still behaves like... ahhh don't know how to describe.. whatever la... have to make a diff..

What a relief!

It's raining heavily.. shiok to go back to sleep but today is a happy day for me... most sent sms greetings a day in advance. So touched...They thought it was 24th. It's today...! Thank you!!

And I got another advance present, a NIKE trail shoe, Air Axis (men's). Were at SportsLink last Sunday. Kevin was browsing at the men's sports shoes. Had no intention to buy , just look-see, look-see..,wanted another trail shoe cos, my NB too tight, and my Reebok worned out. But he grumbled that I got too many already, and what i have can still tahan. But then, it was he who took the shoe out from the rack, it was too small for him so, I tried it on and it looked good on me, really... very good. So I thought, if it's the women's design sure lagi nicer!! So I tried that on too.. but the men's one lagi better sehhh, very comfortable, the women's too narrow and tight, even though it's 1 size bigger... Sooo, we see see, check check.. I test walk, jump, run on the men's shoe.. then, suddenly he said, buy la.... For me, advance b'day present! Eh..really, I asked. Another one after what he already got for me way in advance an O2.. I thought that was it already.. man! Yeah..!!!! Was jumping for joy in my heart. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Have somemore or not ah, sayang.. Must celebrate 7 days 7 nights leh.. it's our very own tradition, ok, start today! Aiyah.. if can.. me finish at 9pm, i tried to swop duty but they don't allow.. b'day not valid reason to give the Director for request to swop. :( That added to my gloomy day, yesterday.

Besides that, been feeling uneasy at heart. Worry about the exam results. Looking glum.. simply no mood for anything..the whole day from morning till Kevin came to join me and my good buddies, Isabel and Shiken, at Delifrance, Novena Sq for supper to celebrate my so-called happy day. A bit cheerful. My face can really tell if i am gloomy, sad or not me,they start to question. But when i am angry and pissed, they stay away..Must smile and be cheerful at all times eventhough I feel otherwise. Tough huh. Maybe what i can do is to display it here using "smiley"... :) :( :'( .... whatever!

This morning at 6:56am, Isabel smsed me to tell me Results out. There was an earlier sms at 5:34am I missed, another classmate smsed the same too. So excited.. I logged in to NYP.. Me only interested in Bio result. Oh please...need to pass, No supp paper please.... i was hoping an praying..

Phew! I managed to pull through. Waah.. this time really jumped for joy! Happy!!!Called Kevin first thing! Thank God. Thanks to my buddies for studying with me, thanks to Kevin for being so understanding. Thanks to all the lecturers and tutors.

Me Very Happy and I luv u too!!! :)

Star Wars Episode III

Went to watch Star Wars movie yesterday with Kev and friends. The movie started on the dot, we were late, as usual. Well actually we were there earlier than punctual, bought this and that, waited for this and that... cost time..

Of all the Star Wars movies.. i like this one the best! It's about my fav, Lord Vader!

When i was young, my younger brother and I had a collection of StarWars figurines and we used to fight for it. If he chose the good ones like Luke Skywalker, then I'd be Darth Vader.. must be of the opposite. Well of cos' no matter what, I played with Princess Leia.. others which was mine was: Chewbacca, Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, C3P0.. but whatever it was, my bro was on the good side and me, the bad one... simply because in the family, i was the active and rebellious one so .. i was with the dark side ..and my bro, he's the angel. We were totally opposite. But now that we are grown ups, we are ok.. same level..never fight, but active i still am, never change, this i know.

Big Walk 2005

Half hearted to go for this year's Big Walk because I had to walk alone. Kevin not going as he had to finish up with his assignments. Stayed up , on and off, to keep him company thoughout the night. Woke up at 6.15am and found him on the living room floor with his notes on his chest, sleeping. He must have fallen asleep while reading. Didn't want to wake him up, so I went back to bed, thinking whether to go for the Big Walk or not, alone? Took a while for me to decide... i didn't want to go back to sleep, but he's sleeping.. so i guessed he would be awake by noon.. or most likely i'd be home and he would still be sleeping.. ok set! I quickly got ready and went for it. Left at 645am, kevin woke up to shift to the bedroom, said goodbye and off i went...

Flag off at 7.30am. Arrived late at 7.50am. Weather was so hot and i did not apply sun block. Now I'm dark not tanned. I can never get tanned, I get dark .. brown not red and it's going to stay that way for a very long time. Shouldn't have worn my Solomon shoe. It kept slipping off. Saw the first few competitive walkers racing opposite the road. They walked like as if they were jogging.. low impact, with style.. gelek here and gelek there ..amazing! Must learn. But funny seh..

Ok,lah.. enjoyed the walk eventhough I did it alone this time round.. Every year, Kev and me, never failed to go.. we walked for fun one.. cut in somewhere half way.. cos we were always late. Past years, met some old friends, so I hoped today I would bump onto someone i know.. but don't have leh.. oh well, kinda get used to doing things alone these days.

Anyway, I finished at 9.20am.

Collected the goodie bag. The band entertainment was better than last year's but the games play last year was much better, i feel. Waited for the lucky draw.. then home. Like boring like that!

Last day at CCK Polyclinic

Last Friday was our last day at the polyclinic. These are the wonderful Sisters and CI who make us felt welcome. Next Monday, 3 of us will be at TTSH and Yanna at SGH.

Staff Nurse Monalisa just graduated, Midwife Jumiah.. she's so cute and seated is Staff Nurse Naj... the pretty one. They deal with wound dressing most of the time. I got to chance to open the sterile pack and pour the normal saline... but the rest, that is, cleaning of wound was done by them. Seen all types of wound... and the most unforgetable one was a diabetic patient whose bottom feet had a big wound, size of half of my palm. Red in colour and that's a good sign. He has to come everyday to the polyclinic to have it cleaned. If not treated or cared for, he may lose his feet. Diabetic patients must take care of their feet. Must put on proper foot wear to avoid injury and complications. I was told that there was a case of a patient whose been bitten by a mosquito on the feet and it started to bleed.. maybe it was so serious that the patient ended up with that part of the feet being amputated.

Our clinical instructor, Ms Aw.. thank you for everything.  Posted by Hello

My Popo not well.

Just talked about hypertension or high blood... and Kev's grandma, Popo was hospitalised for that reason last Thursday. My sis-in-law told me that her systolic blood pressure (sBP) was 200 plus, which I thought it was a little bit too ridulous. But then, Popo is very old, abt 80 yrs old.. so it could be right. The older the person gets, the higher the bp gets.

For a healthy adult, it range fr sBP of 90-120 over diastolic blood pressure (dBP) of 60-80. Hypertension is present when we hit 140/90.

For Popo, an elderly, non-smoker and non-diabetic, 140/90 can be considered healthy. If she is diabetic, then it's best to keep around 120/80.

The thing abt high blood pressure is that the reading differs and varies at any time of the day. It varies with one's physical and emotional activities. So it all depends and at times, there's no symptoms, that why it is called : the silent killer.

Popo has been sick the week before she was hospitalised. We did visit her on Mother's Day. But Popo looked ok.. she didn't show any sign that she was sick. She was busy in the kitchen. She looked ok. That's another thing.. u can't tell when u gonna be hit with hypertension. It can come and go, and if it is not diagnosed early and get early treatment, it can lead to other complications, mainly stroke and heart attack.

She was transfered to the ICU on Friday morning for close monitoring. Visited her yesterday. Saw her sBP was 135, can't remember what the dBP was. Got to speak to the DR and said that her BP is good. Popo need to go for MRI to check on her bile duct and her aorta. It was found that her bile duct has dilated and her aorta has slight bleeding. Mum signed the consent form. Recalled that we didn't inform Popo about the MRI but since it was non-invasive so, I guess Popo wouldn't mind.

I think Popo hates all the IV lines on her wrists..and the hospital actually cuffed her wrist to the bedside cord, to limit her movements. She can't keep her hands still whenever she talks, so i guess they have to do that for her safety too.

She will be at normal ward today since her BP has improved. Hopes she gets better.

Silent Killer- Hypertension

Yesterday, I was attached to a singing nurse! She loves to sing.. chinese songs, and she actually asked me if i want to hear her sing.. well, missy.. i cannot say no right. She had her song book with her, believe me.. she can really sing. So she sang.. not one but 3 songs full version! Quite familiar songs, i was able to appreciate her sing. In my heart, it's like.. so this is what nurses do behind closed doors while the clients wait patiently for their number to be called! That explains!!!!

Then she went on telling me of her lifestory.. which actually scares me. I don't want to listen to any of it.. makes me feel so insecure.

Well, not all nurses are like her.

Yesterday was all abt compulsory immunizations for baby. It's called the National Childhood Immunisation Programme. The 2 compulsory immunisations against Diptheria and Measles. These 2 diseases are life threatening. Another immunisation includes against other diseases like Tuberculosis(TB), Mumps, Pertusis , Rubella, Hep B and Polio. Got all these jap throughtout of baby lifespan up to 12 yrs old.

Today, in Indonesia.. 1st outbreak of polio in decades. 4 children confirmed to have polio. Polio is a waterborne disease which usually infects young children by
attacking the nervous system. It causes paralysis and muscular
atrophy, and there is no cure.

This is how a child's limb be, if the child is not immunised against polio.

Attended a Hypertension workshop this morning. There's no cure for hypertension too. Only way is to control it.. Everyone is at risk actually... that's why it is also known as the "silent killer". Very important to watch our weight, diet, lifestyle- to make time to exercise, no stress.. but as we age and if any of our family members have high blood pressure, chances that we may have it too. What can be done is to take care of what we eat, avoid high fat food, reduce salt and sugar intake, try to exercise and reduce stress.

.. I better cut down drinking 3 in 1 coffee- has high sugar content, use less salt and light soya sauce in my dishes... and eat fruits and drink lots of water and go toilet to pee.... i hate going toilet ...

can't wait any longer....

Ok ... me now want to get over with tomorrow's paper so that i can do what i have not been doing: Run!

I should have more time in the next 4weeks' of clinical attachment. I need to train for any upcoming running events..the ultra again in Dec and most importantly, the Singapore Marathon. Should i do full or just half? Anywayz, training i must..badly but how? Alone? hmmm.. as for now.. yeah .. :(

for the past few days, i feel a bit lonely. feel so left out like that.. something missing.. hopefully things gets better... :(

oh me, now at woodlands library blogging this.. Curious or stupid or got nothing better to do.. so i just signed up.. & top up $10 for multimedia use. Maybe it will come in handy next time.. don't need to look for internet cafe.. quite cheap.

And ....Me have been getting so restless these days too..oh.. i need entertainment!!! lotz of it! i want now!!!

Now back to serious matters..

Together forever..

Can't wait for Friday... last paper ... so excited!

Don't think can do well for this yesterday's 5103 paper.. the paper was quite easy. Sure got a lot score distinction one. But not for me. How to score... me read the course book only.. did not study hard for it. Read so many times also like that... the same.. nothing seemed to register. The subject simply did not move me...no feeling ... it's about family, children, getting old and health care... the family and children part felt quite pressured. And living at old age... wonder who is going to take care of us... & how can we grow old gracefully and successfully?

We ever discussed this before...

When we get old, the young old ( age range 65 to 74), these are some of the silly things we'll most likely do:

1) going to the movies .. best! got concession .. $5 for senior citizen.. every day see movie!
2) play on line gaming (for kev) ... by then got no energy to talk too much..so, we'll communicate online too.. and this one accomplish already.. got our home network set up.. but then, hopefully no hand and eye problems at that age.
3) keep ourselves healthy and active still... go for walks.. theraputic walks...
4) wonder if i'll be running still at at 65... veteran seh.... by the way, next year my category will be veteran liao.. feel old already and out of shape!

what else ah..... oh .. must continue to walk hand in hand , hor sayang...

together forever we do
u know i would move the heaven and earth
just to be together forever with u..." ( ...rick ashley)

Kevin took me out for movie...xXx with friends...

Went out with fox and mp, kev's colleagues... watch xXx(2) last night .. good movie. Wanted to go for Karaoke but mp was so tired, so maybe next time..
Thank you guys for a great nights' out.

It's been quite a while that me and kev walked down Orchard Road. We are always at the North area and hardly did the things we used to do.. maybe our timing wasn't right or maybe it's just me, always complaining of tired and no time.

Kev will be working this Labour Day and on Monday too. My study partners, Isabel, will be busy with sunday's church stuff and Shiken, prefers to stay home to study... and I foresee myself being alone.........

JP Morgan 2005

ha! did as bad as last yr. finished at 42mins. hAh!

As expected, it was crowded..but it was better than last yr in such a way that they so called like split the starting line, the fast runners went to the blue and the fun runners at the red route. I don't know whether there's any difference in the route.. anyway .. it was better planned than last year. And the same girl, Vivien is the champion!! She finished at 18 mins and the Gurkha guy at 20 or 21 min. Have not read the papers but this was what i heard when it was announced on stage. Cheers to them! And also, TLR finished at 22 or 25 mins, can't remember exactly.. and PHillip at 36mins. Excellent guys!!

I feel that i need to improve on my runnung, but i am not the hard core type and no discipline.. so why bother.. but i want to do it. I want to be better but i can never do it.. always the border line case. Not jus in running, .. in everything i do and in me, myself... sometimes i feel useless and most of the time, i worry. ( can't seemed to get that word "rejected" too... i'm getting that feeling, too).

I am sensitive towards others, i care less for myself.. but i can be selfish at times. I hate to be compared but I love to take up some challenges.. I adapt to changes very well but if anything or anyone dearest to me change.. it will take me a very long and difficult time to accept and adjust. I will need a lot, a lot and a whole lot of assurances... in short.. i need attention.

Right now, I should be worrying about tomorrow's exam.. and i hv not finished revising the remaing chapters. Blamed myself for poor planning.. Can't seemed to remember what was learnt..must be stupid or slow.. Afraid, I might not be able to complete the paper. It feels tough.. the subject is so heavy to digest just like the book! can't remember all the medical terms,in fact everything like don't know *sigh...* I can still remember that once I was full of zest even before the semester begins.. and now i am so weak and lost!

So sad... but ...Kevin is going to accompany me tonight.. while me study, he is going to watch his classic chinese fighting fighting vcds.. .. thank u..

Going for run after a very long break..

Going for the JP Morgan run later this afternoon at the Padang. There will be a huge turn out, like last year. About 6000 participants, and could not run properly at all. And it's not cheap. Kevin paid $25 for it and $10 for himself. As for the freebies.. can't remember but the T-shirt was of good quality compared to KLIM.

It was MP Morgan run which started me on running. I finished at 45mins, I think, for 5.6km.. the crowd made me run in zigzag manner, stopped a few to times.. infact it's more like walk a jog. Only at the last 400 meters or so, there was so much space.

Have not been running since the KLIM. Busy with school work and all ..
Exam starts this friday and still stuggling with Medical surgical... got tachycardia each time i open the book. breathless , palpitation, angina..

Take deep breaths... relax..

but how to relax when there are so much to cover!!! I have less than 1 day to complete
1) aCID BASE
2) fluid and electrolytes imbalances
3) blood disorders
4) Respiratory disorders
5) Cardiac disorders..
6
After the run later.. continue with these.. and continue till tmr.. means no sleep till tomorrow evening... will sleep early tmr night .. wake up at 6 plus on Friday morning, go school early .. last revision and finally sit for the paper at 9 am. "Fuuhyooh!! ..." :}

Will be meeting TLR and Phillip.. not sure abt David, later at the Padang. Kevin going for this class so, will not be running.. infact i don't want him to run cos he had not been running like since last year in December and his knee is not in good condition. I will miss him around though .. realised that.. never got to take part any competitive together, except for last year's JP, Safra Marathon and Big Walk.. ehhh! got what ..!!! what am i babbling abt? I just want him around that's all!!!

Can i run with my lecture notes, hmmmm.. ?

Now.. what's the problem??!!!!

We definitely cannot please everyone, huh. Even if there's a solution to it, there will still be some unsettled matter of the heart business sort of thing.. or in chinese they call it "sick heart" or something close to that.

Very glad that i had a good talk with KL two nights ago. Somehow i don't know how to interpret his character. He's a smart fellow but at times, very unpredictable. Sometimes we saw him hitting the walls with his fist, venting his anger i guess.. but at times, he suddenly jumped for joy... a little crazy but i thinks that ok.. a little bit of craziness is accepted.. jus like me .. hehehe.. anywayz...

I apologised to him for all the unhappiness i caused for the past 15weeks. Apologise for all the childish and stupid behaviour, if any, and let's just do our best in the next semester, if we are to return to our same subgroup. We knew our strength and weaknesses.. and had laid out some rules.. so as not to make the same mistakes. Basically it's all about respect and discipline. We cannot escape from problems, personality conflict and all.. till the day we step into the wards.. we are going to face even bigger challenges. Interpersonal communication skills play an important role then... must have michael's course book minimised to bring to the wards together with the clinical log book.

But what had happen to our class??? Have we not practice communication skill appropriately? The group reps met up to solve the sub-group issue.. so we reshuffled and a few not happy. And that few.. most probably 2 or 3 of them how object to the idea.. and insisted that it's the mentor's job to shuffle the group. But that wouldn't solve the prob cos not all want to split. arghhh really don't know what to do now...

I am going to let it rest... until the exams over by 6 May. Then after that, i'll be posted to Choa Chu Kang Polyclinic for 1 week and the rest of the 3 weeks will be at TTSH, ward 9B. After that, then got 2 weeks' break.

Trying to study at home.. but home is sooooo comfortable.... always sleepy mode.
Woke up this morning at 7, cooked fried rice for b/fast and study.. but at 9 dozing off.. so i got up, ironed some clothes.. settled down to study again... sleepy...
left the house to Civic Plaza library.. tahan for 2 hrs.. then came back home...fixed Kevin his brunch.. he said the nasi goreng nice.. yummy eh.. Blog till now. Rec'd sms from Isabel, she's at JE library.. maybe will join her later...

Kevin night shift from tdy till Tuesday nite.. Wednesday is the JP Morgan Corp Run..must run cos Kevin already paid $25 for that. Have not been running since the KL Marathon. Cialat.. don't know how man!

hai.. outside got dark clouds.. it's going to rain lor... ahhh .. the bed is calling !!!!!

better read up my 5105... Got to make Ms Low proud lor...!!!

IT'S GETTING CLEARER NOW..

I hate the feeling of having to pretend to hate or to like... i just want to be me. That's all!! Tried to be do good to help but did more harm instead, i feel. I ended up hurting so many people; and making others to feel and to sacrifice for us or should i say.. the affected ones. Would like to express my Thank you for their understanding and I honour their kind intentions.. Hopefully it works. It's definately gonna work cos it's the only way to solve. And the best arrangement we can come out with but of cos, we welcome opinions and objections and confrontations if there's any... Ohhh... please work.

I know I am crude at times.. which i just have to be that way .. to be bad at times, so as to make things better. But some could have interpreted it differently.. I am totally fine if one sees me as a hypocrite for that reason.. cos i know what i was doing, which i hate though... But i hope there's someone else out there understand as to why i was doing all that ,and what i was going through.... it's ok if they want to hate me.. really. I am fine... infact, i asked for it... in the first place.

Hope the discussion we had this afternoon will be accepted by all. So friends... if we are still friends.. tomorrow is the chance to speak up.. so do speak up!

Ok now.. back to serious business.. I have not started on my essay which is due today at 5pm. On top of that, the 2 e-lectures for 5103 , have not even touched as well. Signing off and ...

good luck,ct!

"are u ok,ct?"

No, i am not ok... so how can you help me,then?
Please la... don't ask for the sake of asking. Really not in the mood for any of these... how i wish u can jus F.o.A.d.
I am not becoming a good person from all this. Haven't I learn enough from working at SingTel... sigh... still the same.. got to stop!
In my entire life today.. I am pissed right before I have to go for my presentation... that was ok ... but i really had to express myself that i had to verbalised those @#$%## words.. and i had to move away for the rest of them just to listen no more to "whatever brilliant idea" others have.. I don't know why i was so affected by it.. maybe i felt for them.. ah what ever la...
AS predicted.. it's not getting any better...

Someone is trying to be nice,eh... and i hate that.. pls la..there's no need to be nice when harm was already done. No more turning back. u are what u are and so be it. You can stop pretending or maybe u can continue the way you have always been.. no diff to me cos u are nothing!!! H.P.O.S!!!! sorry ah... i say what i like to say here... at least i am truthful and sincere.. unlike u... I should have said and confessed on that evening ... but i decided to save ur face... come to think of it... ceh... should have done it.

And another thing!!! Who am i to comment or give advise? I don't know that much... and certainly not close to u... Go ask someone who can't survive without u.. the person knows u better than me.. !!! come on la... how many times must i say... we are all adults... need me to tell meh.. go do u own soul searching... and tell me instead hahahahhaa!!!! how abt that ?!!!

" "

Eh... i thought kevin off my laptop last night before we went to bed... but this morning ,this program still running when i switched it on.. i might have fell asleep after talking to Shiken and my laptop went into sleep mode too... hmmm, another thing was that.. i had a hard time deciding on the title for last night event. Let see what i had in mind:
1- I've been betrayed!
2- Now I feel rejected!
3- Disappointed!
4- It doesn't pay to be nice...
5- I felt for him and, hey... i am sorry
6- Betrayal!!!!!!.
7- Who betray who?
8- U can all hate me, I don't care!
9- Stop acting... la!!!!
10- So what the problem eh?
11- It's not getting any better.
12- Has the tribe spoken?
13- What's up in their mind, i wonder but i knew it!
14- Productivity vs Personality Conflict
15- Let's continue to avoid.
16- The tribe has spoken....

hai ... forget it... it was all said and done. Have to make the best for what is left in the next semester. It's not a fair deal though... A is on his own and what more can he say towards B.. and so be it.. And the "friends4ever" had spoke their mind too.. In the end.. what's left for me to say...? I was so frustrated with the whole issue but what to do. Fifteen weeks gone by and we're still in state of denial. I was shocked with their "sincerity". Yes, I am tired.. i wanted to give up to care for them long time ago... and think for myself for once... but i thought i could improve the situation so I tried, shouldn't have done so in the 1st place, my fault i think... but after yesterday... it has all gone to waste.

Reflection??

Still can't get over it!!! Let's be selfish... but then it's not my style...

From day 1, infact i even blogged abt this stuff and i was so damn well prepared for it . i have learnt to manage my expectations and to work tog in a diplomatic way... but at times, i had no choice but to show my temper ... frustrations ..anger . i believe anyone who is close to me, can see it as if it's written on my forehead! I am human too... yes i always carry that smile and joyful look... but if i were to put on a different mask- angry, crazy or sad ... all started to question me.... Now tell me... how to hide my feelings... cannot always act happy and lively (and sweet... nah... too old for that) ..,, and i can't possibly be the one always giving in (which i don't mine and better give in to solve the problem, settle it and be done with it... & move on!!!) ... no wonder i breakdown easily ... now all know that i am not as tough as i look.

"sOmEoNE out there... pls have some initiative!!!! oops... forgotten.. maybe that "having initiatives" may not be in that person's style... Why can't all just speak up and make things easy for all. After all, we are only left with like one and half yr to go..". aiyah.. easy said then done... me can't voice it up too ... *sigh susah.... just don't want to hurt anyone's feelings... let Me bleed then... it's ok... i'm used to it... had always been at the frontline... no prob.. nothing is wrost than a nasty **** customer!

But i am thankful to have a bunch of wonderful friends.. Shiken, Isabel, x-tina and those that comfort me when i'm down. Caring and sensitive pple... playful yet serious... and i have Jae to scream and yell to !!!!

i have to go school now...

signing out!

ARghhhhhhh !!!!

"i want out!!"...
from our lives' beginning on
We are pusjhed in little forms
no one asks us how we like to be
In school they teach you what to think
But everyone says different things
But they 're all convinced that
They're the ones to see
So they keep telking and they never stop
And at a certain point you give it up
So the only thing that's left to is think is this..
I want out - to live my life alone
I want out - let me be
I want out - to do things on my own
I want out- to live my life and be free
People tell me A and B
They tell me how tI have to see
So they push me then from side to side
They are pushing me from black to white
They'r pushing till there's nothing more to hear
But don't push me to the maximum
Shut ur mouth and take it home
cause i decide the way things gonna be
There are million ways to see the things in life
A million ways to be the fool
In the end of it, none of us is right
Sometimes we need to be alone.
~ halloween, Keeper of the Seven Keys: I want out.~

What a relieve .. Thank God...

Alhamdullillah..... Thank God... I passed the Bio prac test .. got a 'C' and therefore passed my overall. But still must bear in mind, Siti that you have to clear the Semester paper in May. Yeah... just have to keep on studying .. consistently, but where got time ah...

Got the Bio results yesterday and I was so relieved that i had to cry.. very emotional huh... must thank Dr Poh for the extra class. So touched! So nice of him to spare his precious time.. nanyang got voting system or not ah? Must vote him for the best tutor for the year!!! I don't really like the idea of having different tutor for a particular subject. He teaches well and so very clear. Everyone in class wants him to be our permanent prac tutor... But, we also don't mine Ms Teresa, the pharmacist lady, who said she's a malaysian but.. she looks more like a korean, an elegent tai tai! I like her too, very cute.. but then, Dr Poh is still the best!! I want DR POH and so does everyone!

Hah!!! "Stress ah.. how ah!!! " Yeah... u just added another stress ... why must u leave??? Tell me...that it's another German joke of urs!! Who will be taking us?? Oh ...now I regret for not participating actively and doing well for his subject... It must be US lah... like usual.. never come prepare for his tut and skills classes.. sometimes can see that he's frustrated with us.. and maybe that could be the reason he's leaving... hai... sorry la..

Wishing him all the best at Ngee Ann... & he will be MISSED..........

Thank U, Michael. You are one of our favourites too.... Must say... bribery! This friday my skill test....Ahem ahem...

This morning 5108 paper was ok. The begining part, as usual, tricky.. didn't really study much last night, just revising the tut questions and work book.. (while kevin kept playing that old 1980s'chinese song over & over again... which till now still etched in my mind) ... Michael marked it and results were given this afternoon.... I passed 5108! Infact, i improved ... got B. Very happy. And i could hear Kok Leong clapping for me.. Thank u .. got no chance to say that to him. As for him, the underdog.. got A+ ( i think) and Sis Peggy got almost a perfect score!! How they do it ah... ?

What's next? Skills prac test and 5105 presentation this Friday.
MOnday.. Patient Education Presentation and followed then ,
Sociolgy Theory test on Tuesday.

So damn busy... and yes.. forgot to mentioned here ...
i am not the only one busy... my sayang is busy with his too....

You are better than BEST!

Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so many things to do so little time!!!!!!!!

take note: lately... got migraine.

Stress....Week 15 and counting down

Right now, I am sitting at one corner in the library... thinking why are there so much assignments to do and presentations to prepare. In 2 weeks' time, it's exam week and after that 6weeks' of attachments to hospital/clinic or where-ever... and yes..attachments will be graded too. Then, follwed with a miserable 2 weeks break before it all started again....If i pull through this semester with all 'C's or even 'D's, i'll jump for joy!

So far.. there's not much studying done, jus completing assignments and presentations.. complete , throw them aside and move on to the next....time mgmt is very important here... and i am so bad at it. 5102 assignment had to cut marks for handing it 1 day later. Lesson to learn... don't do things last minute..

So here i am in the library, trying to squeeze my brains out to write my lesson plan and prepare my 10min speech relating to Health education : Asthma. It's a 10 mins speech... should i talk abt the anatomy of the respiratory system..? Are my audience ready to here those "chim" words.. and most likely, they may know more than i do.. so how ah... how to draw attention and make it interesting since most of them knows what asthma is... should i tell them my very own experience... how i feel living with asthma and how very little underestand others have about asthma... it's just coughing and the phelgm causes breathlessness, take the inhaler ... breathe and everything will be ok.. yeah right .. .. But what most don't understand is the way we feel when an attack occurs, especially when there's no sign of it coming... it feels like dying ... eh! maybe i can start with " Asthma kills!!!!" and ha! this will make my audience open their eyes and ears, big big...

A quick Update

Just handed in 2 written assignments which were all done at the very last minute... I am so exhausted.. i feel so lost and don't know what to do...

Met up with my mentor this afternoon.. i was told that i got the "love letter" due to my absent records. But.. phew! it was not me... another Siti. She looked at me and asked how i have been. "tired ah", i answered. My mentor, then advised me to cut down or stop my extra activities. Then she said" what happened to the vibrant Siti?"
( and yesterday, my friends said that i looked pale and green.... (green?? hmmmm)

ACitivities!!!! what activities do i have??? Only running ! but i have not been running since the KLIM. I am not in the mood for anything... Studying is so tough for me now. Whatever i study, didn't seem to register. Read, read and read again and again just to understand. Maybe it's the age factor.. but there are others who are older mah... and they are doing well , infact very well... but really... i can't cope.. :"(

I don't know where I am at right now as in what have i learnt? From day one to now.. i don't know anything like that!!! What happened ah?

Maybe i should keep on running and do stuff i usually do. Maybe by doing so, I will not be so lethargic and get my sympathetic system up and going... maybe ah hmmm... let's see how.

Everyday, rush to school.. for lecture and tut.. do assignments and presentations .. no time for self study.. no time to go see movies.. too tired to run.. not eating well.. face looks pale.. at times, have the fear of going for skills or tut classes ... carry heavy bag but nothing in the brain.. think too much & worry for nothing.. reached home do a bit of hse work.. home food is still the best, so cook simple dishes..must talk and play with catz, but always forget to call parents..prepare for the next day..sleep latest at 2am and lastly, make kevin happy... ahhhhhhhhhh...

I miss my Sayang...

Everyone has their own style of studying. But I don't know what's mine. My study partner is Shiken and she is still full of energy and enthusiasm. This afternoon in the library, while she was revising.. typing notes on her new laptop, I dozed off..
Study with Isabel also best! Today she was at Mac Cafe @ Lido, to study but she left the place early too.. said very tired.

So I went home, bought cat food and took a very short nap ... still feeling drowsy.. but..
have to study for my Bio prac test. This friday morning at 9. I have to pass, die die must pass.. ( i failed in the previous theory test).

got to stay up so ... where my coffee?

KLIM - Half Marathon

My very first half marathon and it was just for fun. My official time clocked at
02:54:05 -offical time
02:53:47 -net time
01:11:43 at 10km

For results, click here!

Almost wanted to give up at 7km as I felt that I won't be able to make it. But at that moment, I was somewhere running on a highway. But then again, I had only two ringgit with me after I gave my 10ringgit to The Lonely Runner early that morning. So I kept on running.

Didn't do much training and preparation for this run. My aim was to finish in 3hrs, that all. Not even thinking of getting the medal for completing within the qualifying time, which I didn't even bother to find out, in the first place. Overall, I am very happy with my 10km, clocking at that timing. The last time I ran 10km (Mizuno WaveRun) , I took one and a half hour to complete.

The only thing I like about this event is that I have Kevin and friends cheering for me at the finishing line. Two things I hate were 1) the official attire, an oversized 'ah pek' like singlet and 2)there were no mobile toilets for ladies at the refreshments points.

I have to get an early rest now. Tomorrow back to normal, stress....struggling with loadz of assignments and preparing for this Thursday's bioscience test.

I GOT C FOR MY COMPETENCY TEST...

THANKS TO MY THERMOMETER... i charted the code wrongly for the temp and pulse!
i am so tensed... clumsy.. knocked against the trolley and bed... dropped the thermometer.. and worst case was touching the sheath of the thermometer... i've contaminated it...
terribly done... greatest disappointment... *sigh* must learn to be calmed and relaxed.

Now leaving for KL.. KTM train leaves at 10pm.

Bye now!

Will be back by Sunday night...

Relax CT!

Slept at 2am last night and can't really sleep. Just closing eyes.. then was awaken by a burning smell. Got up to check the stove and other electrical appliances and switches. Everything was fine. Back to bed.. but i think i did get some sleep cos' i dreamt that i was tested on mobility and position of patient. Called Isabel the first thing to check if she'll be at e-plaza. Knowing her as being very ON one... but aiyah.. she decide to be on " own time own target" .. not sure what time to leave ...

Anyways, I jus have to learn to be independent in school. The truth is I'm still not used to moving around the school alone. I know I will get lost.

Yesterday Christina reminded me of the 5102 -CBL case study tutorial tomorrow. I won't be around and it doesn't mean that I can escape. I hope my finding on the case study is relevant.

ok got to leave.. all the best to myself, keep calm, relax ... Steady!

Ready to Go

I just realised today that we will be leaving for KL tomorrow night. I am a bit kan-chiong right now .. not for the running but packing.. I need to prepare the things i need to bring.. travel light. Bring my Bio book- A MUST! how about laptop? if bored with bio, can write my Communication essay or Soci's presentation. See how..

What to wear to run ah? I don't look good in shorts so I'll settle for long pants..feel like wearing my Stephanie Sun's singlet but it's black. oh yeah.. very important- Sun Block. But the most important thing on my mind right now is tomorrow's Competency Clinical Test. Stress! Hope that I stay calm and relax so that I can focus on my interventions.

But am ready for the run? I think so. I think the run will not bore me cos the route, the place, the surrounding are unfamiliar ..I am eager to see what's ahead of me. So I will keep on running... Explore the city of Kuala Lumpur! Ada motivation... I hope I won't take so long to complete. I don't want to keep Kevin and the rest waiting for me at the finishing, in case, they want to go for a last minute shopping. Opps! did i jus say ..shopping!! Another motivation factor to consider but shopping is not part of my itinenary.

Ok next .. what song motivates me to run..? Hmmmmm...must download latest by tomorrow 7pm.

And another thing... I am looking forward to meet blogger runners from Malaysia. Too bad, cannot meet Wendy ( see tagboard).

Tonight will pack a few stuff and to complete the rest tomorrow after school. Will be taking the night train at 10pm and reach KL very early morning. Leaving together with TLR and his family. Fd will be leaving on Friday afternoon by bus. We'll all be staying at Swiss Inn till Sunday.

Excited???

U mean right now? Not really.. actually.. Got a lot of other things i worry, in my mind.

Uniform

On early week of the semester, all of us had to queue for uniform measurement.I was one of the last few in the queue. And today, we collected it and guess what? The tailor gave me "M" size- STandard "M" size. What a waste of time. Shouldn't have queued at all.

When tried on this afternoon, it was a bit loose. My friends were telling me that the waist and hips area were too loose, all because i do not have buttock, like any other minahs. And on top of that, I lost a fair bit of weight. So the aunty suggested to trim/alter 1-inch. Then, she said that I may want to consider the things i'm putting into my front pocket.. hmmm she may be right. So after testing putting Isable's ah lian style long wallet and handphone, the dress fits me jus fine though still abit loose around my hips. As long as the bottom don't look like a ken-ken skirt, can already.. and above all, i mustn't look like a goondo.

Oh yah.. this i must say! I used to fit into jeans of size 30 at max, but last week, went to get a pair of jeans at bosini and my waist has shrunk to fit into jeans of size 26.. Amazing! It must be all because of running. My weight upon admission was 56kg and now it's 53. To all those who wants to shed some weight.. just run or do any form of exercise. Diet? Nah.. eat still .. but in moderation.

Homesick

Totally forgotten to document this: My cat Harry is back with us! or should i say.. he's back to be with his brother, Todd.
We took him back last Wednesday. The new owner expressed that Harry was vomiting and feeling homesick. They said that he pushes his head against the door, trying to escape. I guess he missed Todd. And during his absence, Todd was not himself too. He followed me everywhere, whinning and making a lot of noise, especially at night. Maybe he was wondering where could Harry be and he badly needed his brother to play boxing. I guess we really can't separate the two siblings. So now they are happily re-united.

Busy me

Been busy lately with all the assignments, presentations, test and all. Let me jus summarisewhat i did for the past week..
1- last sunday, was busy finishing an assignment for presentation the following day so, didn't go to Sentosa to support my sayang participated in the NUS Biathlon relay with TLR. They came in 15th position and i am very proud of them. They must be very happy with the results too, and i know that they had fun that day. :)

2- Monday- presentation on adolescent and we did quite badly, i think. I expectat a 'C' on this particular assignment cos' everybody except one, did not give their 110%. anyway.. we or some of us never did try to give their 100%.

3- Tuesday- Studied for clinical test. Took Micheal's advise that the test will not be that difficult and mostly common sense. Did not prepare earlier for the test cos' most of the time was used to prepare for earlier assignment/presentations. no excuse.. manage yr time,ct..

4- Wednesday- Sat for the clinical test at 9am. Very excited and true, the test was made easy but slightly tricky. Must read carefully, and you can't go wrong.

5- Thursday- Started on the essay : Reflection after completing Nursing Process -Case Study. it's all about how u prepare ur case study .. not about leadership , personality or whatnot! u have to put aside ur ego if u r trying to write this essay.

6- Friday- Went to Polyclinic for HEP B jab as early as 0830hrs but... what a waste of time, didn't get to have the needle cos, i didn't bring the ltr fr the doctor! Have to come back on Saturday. MY CLINICAL TEST RESULT: B-. and I think HS5102 case study-nursing process is B- too, based on Ms Low's comment as "good" and we tried to read the marks behind her blanco, & Anderson said it looks like 14/20..Ok lah..Thank God. How i wish i spent less time on presentation.

7- Saturday - went to the Polyclinic again with the ltr of cos. Was there at 0830hrs and only called for the jab almost at 11am.

Today, I was the the library fr noon to 8pm. I finished the essay on Reflection and it has been a very long time I ever wrote anything serious academically . I am not comfortable with it. I hope i won't disappoint my group.
This coming Thursday, there's Nursing Competentcy test. And Thursay nite, leaving for KL, and yet, I have not been running. Oh my god.... how, man?
Coming back from KL, Bio-Test awaits for me on Thursday and 2 assignments to prepare due on week 13 and 14.. I am so lost in my own world. The blood vessels in my head are going to burst!!! God, pls give me strength.

Sleepy...

Fine tuned HS 5102 Nursing Diagnosis and Interventions Presentation, today. What's left to do is to have it printed on tranparencies. And, the photos of the dummy with IV line on it, to be printed in colour on transparency. Later will have to try to print the pic onto the tranparency with my Canon MPC190S. If cannot, then no choice la.. normal photo print and pass it around the class to show what's an IV is. The presentation will be at 2pm, this Friday.

Next, is to work on HS 5103- on Child Assessment:Adolescent - another grp presentation due on this coming Monday at 4pm. I think our topic is going to put the audience to sleep. I don't even know what we are doing, 1st of all, and I don't think I have contributed much for this assignment. For this presentation, we need a laptop, which none of us have one. We have video clips to show the class. So how? Just show the lecturer, personally, what we caught on my hp N6230. But i still have to burn the videos and pictures, jus in case, there's this kind soul would bring her laptop to school so that we can use it. Hey, I know it's heavy.. but i don't mind carrying it for u , if i get to use it, the whole day. Really, serious. .. please bring..

And lately, I have not been feeling good. Almost every night, coughed and have breathing difficulty in the morning. Also been feeling sad whenever think of Harry. Now.. i am tired and will take a nap.. waking up later to try print pic on transparency, burn the pics and video on cd.. and etc..

You are going to be missed badly..., Harry.

Yesterday, I received a sms from Kakak Kamaria.. telling me that she has arranged for her cat to be neutralised this Wednesday and requesting if she can take Harry this Sunday. Immediately, I felt so sad and actually cried in the lecture hall. I miss him already. Feeling terrible.. really cannot control myself...*sob* *sob*

I used to have a total of 6 cats. Their names are Tabbie, the mummy to Todd,Harry, Tinnie (adopted by Zanna),Kathy and Cookie (adopted by Serene, which passed away last year) and Allie, the stray-cat. Now 5 cats are living happily with me. We adopted Tabbie from one of the animal hospital 8yrs ago, and she ran away for a few days. But Kevin found her one morning, and caught her in the act and that was how we have that many cats. While Tabbie went missing, I picked up a stray kitten, and that's Allie, Kevin's favourite.
Zanna adopted Tinnie, 2 years ago. She felt that her female cat, Baby, needs a friend. Initally, I was afraid that both cats will fight when they were to meet eye to eye. And was afraid and sad for Tinnie. He had to cope and adjust to a different environment. It was sad to see him in the pet carrier, meowing or more like crying , as if he knew that we were going to leave him with someone else. But I thank god, both cats did not fight and got along very well from the begining. No problems at all. Baby really needed a friend, I guess.
Tinnie has always been the friendly and socialable male cat. He is the type that will sit on ur lap and purr and you will feel bad if u were to move away. He is so adorable and I am thankful to Zanna for keeping, caring and loving him. I miss him.

And now, as I write, Harry is lying next to the keyboard. I can't hold back my tears.. I am going to miss him real bad too. Harry is extra-ordinary. He will accompany me throughout the night, sitting beside me (and next to him, he has his brother, Todd), he then, would occasionally look up, meow and stretch out his paw to touch me, on my shoulder or face. That's how he calls out to us.
And I can never forget the way he massage on my tummy using his big paw while i lay down. While he's doing that, he's nose will get wet and the watery mucous will start to drip but he will try to lick it before it drip onto my tummy. He is such a unigue cat! He is going to his new home this Sunday night. My friend stays at Yishun and she welcomes me to visit Harry whenever I miss him. So sad..

Now.. who wants to adopt Kathy?

Run and swim..

Next Sunday, 20 Feb is the NUS Biathlon 2005 & Kevin will be participating. He will be swimming and the big boy, running. Swim 800m & run 5km.

This morning, we went to Sentosa together with TLR and FD.
TLR timed Kevin's swimming before he began running from Tanjong to Siloso and back. Running is not a problem for TLR, definately.. but it's Kevin's first time taking part in this sort of event, especially having to swim in sea water.. eeeuuu .. salty, and Kevin just started to brush up his swimming skill. But I think, he's alright la... he can do it. After today's 800m trial, hmmm very good leh..

It's not easy to swim in the open water with no line to guide u to swim straight. Looking at him swimming at Tanjong beach.. like heart pain like that...swim alone. If running, at least you can have someone next to you, can talk or listen to MP3.. but swimming.. wah cialat.. cannot have friend next to you.,,if have also, cannot talk, and no music!! If it's me~ swimming, I think I'll drown of loneliness.

On that day, be prepared for the crowd of swimmers splashing all over the place.. sure will kena kick one! I will be there with him as early as possible. Registration at 9am. Hope FD and family will be coming to support the super~men! and i kinda miss her mum's nasi lemak and the sambal .. shiok!

Talking about nasi lemak.. hey FD! Thanks for buying the Nasi Lemak ,and Sukaimi for driving us to Funan.

As for me, I jogged from Tanjong to Siloso and back, i followed the train trail route. I think it's about 4 km but less than 5km. Went off earlier than TLR.. cos he will definately cut me somewhere.. and yes, he did.. on my way back from Siloso. Seeing him run.. wah like nothing like that! Foohyuuh (is that how u spell it,TLR?) !!

Last evening, I ran , started from home, ran around the park to Safra, took abt 15mins, stopped at Safra to see Kevin at the pool. Then, continued running from Safra out to main road, to NorthPoint and back to Safra. I took 20mins. Calculated the jogging route, estimated to be abt 5.5km in all. Rested awhile by the pool before joining Kevin.

Just read Carine's blog, she and her running friends frequent Yishun stadium and recently they ran from Yishun to Admiralty. Maybe, one day i might bump into her. And one day, I really have to try to run from home to NYP. Calculated using Street Directory, it is estimated to be about 7km. There's one thing I may and will hate about running that way up to NYP is the long stretch of Lentor Avenue.. it's like never ending. But still, I hope to try one day.

2nd Day of Lunar New Year

Supposed to have Steamboat kind of style .. souppy and all.. but the DoDo's stall at Cold Storage was closed and so decided on grilling the marinated chicken, beef and prawns.. I like to see Sukaimi eat.. like very shiok like that. Why not?? Chicken is his favourite! Oh yah.. I forgotten to get Chicken Sausages. FD told us, while we were at East Coast during the charity run, he loves sausages, like small boy. Besides, eating chicken.. he also whack the Van Houten chocolates, cookies.. . and FD kept munching on the Swenson's chocolate cookies..and only then, I realised that the cookie is belly nice!!! I don't really like it at first or maybe, got no friend to eat with, so it doesn't taste or look nice.

Just look at my messy kitchen!!! Aiyoyoh... paiseh......

After makan, as usual...boys will be boys..

Before leaving to Alex's house, we took this photo using self timer.. took a few times jus to make sure everybody looked good.. **SMILE**

Very interesting evening at Alex's house, which was not planned. Sukaimi got an invitation via sms, and he asked if we would like to come along. So we did... *sibuk-sibuk*. Moktar and Zul was there earlier and they, especially Moktar, had lots of ghost stories to share and all other stuff. Funny people. We left Alex's house after the American Idol. Thanks Alex and Xin Nian Kuai Le!

Happy Lunar New Year!

This afternoon Kevin's family came over for reunion dinner. This year, we had it much earlier at 4pm because both Kevin's sisters had to leave early to have another reunion dinner with their in-laws, their 1st reunion dinner. Afraid that I may not have enough time to prepare and tidy up the house, I skipped the last lecture at noon.

On my way home, I sms-ed Chinese New Year greetings which was in Chinese..to my chinese friends.. here were some replies i got :)

Elliote: "Thanx!Happy new year 2 u too! Wah,ur chinese improve leaps+bounds, can read so many characters already:) Happy cooking!"

Joanne(ST): "wa.. you can read chinese ar.. thanks for the greetings anyway!happy holidays to you too!"

Irene(ST- my ex-EO):"tk u 4 the greetings. By the way,so many words u understand or not!"
CT replied: Haha... what u think! tdy skipped lecture to cook 4 the reunion late lunch..la..
Irene: Not a good student but definately a good wife who can cook though the food may not b nice hor...

As usual, I cooked for the family, which I really enjoy doing so. But this year's dinner was very simple, no "lo hei". I prepared Watercres Chicken soup, Steamed fish in Tom Yam Sauce, Stir-fried Veg with beef, more veg and buttered prawn with garlic. So how was it? Nice?... hmmmm I really don't know la, but my brother-in-law took second serving of my soup.. and said that he wants to attach his wife to me for OTJ- cooking lesson. Told her my secret recipe.. instant!.. hahaha not a secret anymore...

Normally, on chinese new year's eve, we will stay up till after midnight.. got meaning one, but not sure what was it.. but usually it has got to do with good luck or something like that. But as of right now, at this time, my sayang is sound asleep... he must be very tired...

Wishing all chinese friends a Happy Lunar New Year and to the rest..enjoy the 2-days break!

Run.. run .. everybody run.. 5,4,3,2,1.. let's Run!

Entering this post from the campus' e-plaza while Kevin is having his knees checked by final year student nurse-Physiotherapist.

Last Wednesday evening, Shiken and Isable came over to my place for a jog. Shiken had not been running for a long time but she managed to cover at least 500m and started walking. I told Isabel to go ahead & to meet us later at Safra. I showed her the route and it should cover close to 3km. (Isabel usually jogs around the track non-stop for 17 rounds, so I guess this 3km is chicken feat) As for me, I stopped at 1km, ran back to Shiken and joined her walking. As we power-walked, we talked about cars, keeping fit and swimming. We met up with Isabel abt 20mins later.

Last night, I ran my usual route around Yishun estate - approx 5km. It was a good run and the night was breezy. I took close to 35mins.

Somehow some lecture-mates got to know that I ran.. and they invited me to join them..of cos, I accepted it.. I roughly told them my running schdule and some are interested to join me.. wah..I didn't know there are people in the accelerated very "ON" into running too... "heng hao, heng hao"

So later this evening, Drago aka Kock Leong, Yoke-sun and some others, will be joining me running around the campus. wooahhh very excited.. I thought I have no running kakis in school.... but then.. now i worry about pace. Sekali, I cannot tahan how... cialat la.. paiseh.. lets see how..

Got to go for my clinical lab now... Today's topic: Body Mechanics...

Part 1: Running plan for next 2 weeks

My running plan to prepare myself for the KLIM on 6 March 2005.

This is just plan... i don't know whether i am planning it right...Let's just see if i can really tahan what i planned to do.
currently i don't want to time how long i would take. But having said that... I'm hoping to be able to run the 21km within 3hrs max, if god willing..

Lagi not expecting it to be an A-

Today, we got our grades for the grp presentation which we did last Monday, the one that i worry so much... And it turned out to be good leh... an A-. Very happy. Thanks to everyone in the group, KL,Anderson, Yen and J. The better and smarter group scored A+ and it belonged to Isabel's group. Congrats!

Our presentations was not too wordy, very clear and simple, eventhough the theory which we picked, which was, the Orem's Self Care Deficit, was quite a complex one. Our lecturer was happy with the 2 examples on applications, presented by Kock Leong, good and relevant. Cheers to Kock Leong!!!! Well done, brother!

At first, I thought that we were going to get a C, and I will settle for that, cos our slides were too simple. But I guess, that was what the lecturer was looking for . Simple to understand and done in an informal way. Avoid using bombastic words. He was also looking for participation from the audience which was lacking..hmmm ok.. sir, that we will keep in mind & will have that in our next presentation. But how much can we do in 15-20 mins at max. ?

Having said that ....

That's my lady lecturer's favourite line... "having said that.... blah blah blah....
She is such a health freak... not that she would check on the quality of the food or assessing health factors or risks in relation to the food she's about to consume, she would actually SMELL THE PLATE, first!!! Having said that, while she was in India..she went on a diet.

Smell Urine!

Gosh! The boys were made to hold their bladder this morning till 1pm, so that we could have a sustantial amt of urine samples for the class to smell and to carry out some testing.

I volunteered to be the one to smell first while it was still fresh.. OMG, it's like fear factor..

After inhaling 2 different coloured urine, one is concentrated with bubbles and the other was as clear as water (it was J's) ... i ran to the basin to wash my hands and thereafter... u know la... i wanted to throw out! It was not disgusting actually.. the urine is supposed to be sterile. But I just couldn't take it... .

Guess what's next for testing? Don't need to think further....

Unexpected..

I screwed up in yesterday's group presentation!!! It was at 10am and the room so bloody cold. I think we are going to get low a C. And why was that?
I was so stiff.. everybody was quite suprised. I didn't sound confident , no eye contact, didn't project my voice.. totally nervous ah.. simply cannot relek ..and the slides did not sync with my speech.... and the next thing on my mind was... sure kena question one! And true enuf!! kena tekan by the lecturer! Ask me a simple question which i did answered, but my sentencing was so bad!! I looked at Christina, and she had her eye brow crumpled and eyes was trying to tell me to speak up... and realised then, how obviously kancong i was. Of all the people in my group, why me?!

Tdy in lecture... also kena tekan! Wah liau.. he thinks i know so much things ah!!! Better be fully equipped in future.. put on my helmet, armour, sword and what not...when attending his lecture and tutorials. Ok set! My new resolution! It's ok if i don't get the answers right ... will be embarassing but i will learn from it. Will start my new resolution next week... this week cannot, busy with an essay, survey and other grp presentations to prepare... after that will hit the books!

I want to thank the wonderful and supportive family of FD's and Sukaimi's. Thanks for being there and of course, the nice food. :) and not forgetting Md Irfan!!!!

They all joined TLR at almost the ending part. They charged into the pavement , ran ... laughed and cheered for TLR. So... Happy... especially the children.....!!!!

TLR !! THANK U FOR RUNNING TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE TSUNAMI VICTIMS!

Stayed overnight at East Coast Park last Friday night to support our friend, The Lonely Runner, who has a big heart, to run 24hrs to raise funds for the Tsunami victims. The moneys collected will be given to our S'pore Red Cross Society. To-date, I do not know how much was the donation amount. But there were so many people at East Coast and the DJ has done a good job by announcing the event for the good cause, I hope it reached more than $10k.
The run started at 9pm on Friday,21 Jan. Ran halfway with TLR and the volunteers, stopped to hang the banner. I did the banner in the afternoon and some part of the paint was still wet. By the time we finished hanging it up, he was running back and we, Kevin, Fd, FD's sis and Fatima cheered and followed running behind the group of runners. Me and Kevin ran while the rest cycled.

It was a meaningful event and was happy that quite a number of runners came to run with him. The wonderful people whom I know came to support were Carin, Tahan, Phillip, Pear, Peter, Chris and a couple few people from whom I met at MR Ultra. I also got to know who Chew and Husnah is.

We went home in the morning and return at abt noon. At that time, he was getting ready for his 11th lap. My leg itched to run but I worry abt my right calf. But when I saw there was only 1 guy to accompany him, I decided to run and dragged Kevin along. Then, Chris came along. I did a full 10k and after 12th lap I gave up at 7km. Then, after that a bit here and there. At some point, I shouted and clapped to get the public to cheer for TLR.

I was afraid that I was too slow for the guys so, I ran ahead a bit. I was glad to have ran at least 1 lap. Another man to thank was Peter! He accompanied TLR most of the time, throughout! There was this veteran chinese lady too... she accompanied in the middle of the night for a couple of laps. Carin too. At that moment, Kevin and I was busy bbq-ing. There were a few who came on Friday night, left but returned the following day to run the last lap to finish the run with TLR. They are all so wonderful. I bet some don't even know TLR but was there to support him. Oh yes, we have the other supporter, the JJC students did their part by performing a mass dance. They really keep the event going too.

At the end of the run, loads of people congratulated him for his excellent iob. He finished hisrun abt 15mins to 9pm, with total dist of 150km. Thank u for running that far. Even if he did not run that many laps, it's ok.. It's running 24hrs! Not checking on the no of laps.

Now, what matters most is the amount of funds collected.

Busy week ... and ahead

Registered online for KL- Half Marathon last Sunday. The marathon will be on 06 Mar '05. It's week 10, and I think I have one group assignment to be handed by week 9 and another on week 10. Cialat.. Between week 4 to week 16, practically every week got thing to submit one!

Must start training. Some of my classmates have decided to jog tomorrow. May join them, then after that, go swimming with another group of friends. But before that, must complete the Orem's Model for this Monday's presentation.
Looking forward to this Friday's Run For Help! Emailed to my group mates and one of them, Chay Lee, will be coming on Saturday morning. She said that she goes to East Coast every weekend for her morning run. Superb! Thank u for supporting, Chay Lee!
Nice lady and super fit for her age. Salute to u, sister!

I'm thinking of roller blade -ing besides running ... so that I can accompany TLR most of the hours. And I can't possibly run at his speed. Hmmmm, guess not.. so that's why i want to skate.
So how.... ? Also, since it's 24 hrs, I planned to bring the camping stuff and BBQ food stuff and all. Got to plan.

And...It just came to my mind that Kevin better not run cos he hurt his knees after completing the 10km Swift run last Sunday. Oh no! Then what is he going to do? Then what? No need to go? No way lah... must GO to SUPPORT TLR. Maybe can do some volunteering work. Must check with TLR or Zul and Kevin too.

I want to make a banner.. maybe tomorrow go look for the material & buy black colour spray paint or just paint. The last time I did a banner was for Sembawang Rangers and that was so very long time ago, like more than 8years. Don't know whether I still have the skill to draw and paint. Let's see....

Got to go kitchen now.. cook beef porridge. The food at NYP, not nice. Today I had Egg Mac Muffin for breakfast and one piece of roti prata kosong for lunch. Bought 2 pc but eat one piece only. Simply got no appetite. I'm Hungry now!!!

End of week 2 of yr2005

1st bio lab practical class... very exciting! Learnt what is osmosis and diffusion.
Looking at the reactions on 3 drops of blood after mixing isotonic, hypotonic and hypertonic solution into each drop. Actually, I don't really know how to use the microscope. I couldn't really see clearly.. always has this "black shadows" blocking my view. Then I realised that the black shadowy thingy was my long eye lashes. I placed my eyes too near to the lenses. Silly me!

The following day, i think it was Thursday, Kevin followed me to school and attended my Bio lecture, then he recce the campus on his own while I sat for another 1hr lecture. He seemed to be enjoying himself! Anyway.. very natural and understandable, if u know what i mean.

Thanks to J who volunteered to strip so that Michael, our lecturer and tutor, can show us where the pulse sites are. First time touch other man's body... hehehee. We were told to touch his hands and legs, to feel the parts where it felt warm and cold..,suddenly the class was quiet and there was a short pause...everyone was so shy to come forward, even the other guys didn't want to step up. How to become nurse like that! So, I started off first. But before that, I said to J, " Hi, J.. I am going to touch u.. ok?" and he replied, "ok". It was a bit awkward but I had to ask cos I don't know how he felt. Then, after that we were thought how to use the stethoscope. We all got the chance to to listen to the sound of our friend's stomach and lung. The following day, we learn how to measure weight and height and work out our BMI , and also counting our pulse. I'm 163cm, weigh 53kg, therefore my BMI is 21. My pulse is 106 beats per min. So what does it tell me?

Took Luqman to MR to show him the 10km route, he'll be participating tomorrow~ AGT Swift Run. Thank God, Kevin was with us that day. Actually on that day, he was supposed to have an appointment with TLR to be somewhere else to discuss abt the Tsunami run stuff, but it was cancelled. We started too late and had to walk our way through the "jungle" in the dark. Thank God... Kevin's handphone equipped with a torch light. It was really very dark and eerie.... . The trail seemed endless...

Abt the Tsunami ~ Running for Help... pls visit TLR's blog. Kevin and I will be there to support him and hope that all who know him and those who has read and heard about his run to raise funds for the Tsunami victims ... Come on down to East Coast from 9pm onward on the 21 to 22 Jan,9pm .. bring ur running shoes and $$$.

Go! TLR, Go! We will be running behind u!

And all the best to Kevin, Luqman, Pear and of course, TLR, for tomorrow's 10km A.G.T Swift Northern Route Challenge at MacRitchie.

I want to run.... but better not. But then, again see how ...

This morning, I was introduced to CK by Debb. He's amazing. He used to be a journalist so he reads extensively and he said knowing too much things and having it all up in the head ..also no good. CK and Debb are in the same tutorial class and both in same assignment grp. I think he is so damn good.. cos he and his group has somewhat completed their qrp presentation due on week 4 and now moving into doing grp assignment which are due by week 6. I wouldn't say that they are very "on". They are just very fast in their work. His advise was just go straight to the point and choose the easiest question. And, since it's an accelerated course, there's no time to waste. Agree.

Then in the afternoon, while I was at the library, he was there too. Guess what?! He is planning to start doing the individual essay for psychology which is due on week 16.. OMG!!!!

Do within my limits.

I lost my clinical coursebook last Friday and had to meet up with Deb yesterday to zap a few pages of that book for this coming Monday class. I had a good talk with her and I realised that I envy her sub-group. I had a slight breakdown while relating to her my fear of might not able to cope with my peers. She advised me " ct, just do what u can"

Tutorial Group 2 may look so united but it may not necessary mean that we can work thing together in harmony. Everyone had different past experiences , behavourial style and dynamics. It's too early to identify any one of them just yet. But I think most should already know what kind of person I am. They see me as systematic and organised. Actually, I am not so that organised at all. I just have to be, else everything will fall apart and the group will not be able to function as a team. I believe in teamwork and sharing, "give and take" and understanding one another. As this age and stage, I do not have much time to waste, I want to do things in an efficient way, in a manner where it will not only be beneficial to me but to all in my group too. And definately would like to see results, good effective results. I have played too much throughout all my life and it's time to be serious but of course, still having some fun.

I have learnt from reading this motivational book " Fish ", I have chose the attitude I bring to the workplace, for my case it will be school, and it does work. It makes MY DAY and I hope I make everybody's day too. To PLAY is recommended, that is having fun while at work but still take work seriously! Yes, I am having fun and am taking pride of what I do. Next is to be PRESENT, that is to be in focus, to be present in mind, to listen .. do not multitask and do not take things for granted. Simply be present and this may not be an easy task. There are always noises in my head. A lot of things to think about, never-ending.

I am very excited too get to know how my sub-group work. I am so eager to start on my group assignments. I don't know what's their style of getting things done, how much they want to achieve, what's their expectation and so on...

I think I am thinking to much and it seems that I am going to be the problem. I am going to be called the kiasu one, the very "on" one .. but if i am like that... i shouldn't be spending my time blogging right now.... sigh....

My goodfriend who is basically of the same traits as me.. said to me that I have to learnt to manage my expectations. We used to work together and we were damn good! We are results orientated and we were never tired of thinking of getting ideas and ensure that we produce the best. Our expectations are pretty high..and We were seen as Perfectionist! But, in reality we are not perfectionist at all! Our homes are in a big mess! Our personal stuff were and still are unmanaged! We are strange. We make sure that our husbands had their things arranged in order but ours are like "whatever" . Don't know what to call ourselves.. but basically we realised that we don't mind doing things for others. hmmmm...

So I think my goodfriend has lightened up a bit. And since we are not getting any younger and not as energetic as before, she told me to manage my expectations. Just do what I can. Share the load as best you can. Others may need to learn limits as well. I am not sure of this but I think God also never give us more than what we can handle.

I am not in a smiley mood now.

Role of a Nurse

  1. What do u think Nurses do?
  2. Do u think tertiary level education is necessary?
  3. Do u see nurses as professionals?
  4. Do u think the role of the female and male nurse are the same?
  5. What would u like to see in a nurse today?
  6. Do u see nurses as a bridge to other healthcare professionals?

Very exhausted...

It's only the 3rd day and feeling so exhausted but I'm enjoying it.

So far I am so happy to be in Class Group 2. The youngest is 23 and the oldest.. oops! cannot say the word "old" very sensitive... the very mature student is 38,I heard. And WE got along very well. So far no disputes within sub-groups, unlike in the other ClassGrps, i heard. I even heard that some wish that they could be in Class Group2, that's MY Class! There are at least 20 students in a group. And mine is siew-siew 20. So we have 5students in each sub-group for group work.

Pity the one, I heard, who can't get along in class. Come on lah, darling.. we are going to be together for the next 2yrs, be cool, tolerate a bit and get along. It's plainly the choice of attitude u bring to school and the way u behave towards ur group. Others response to ur attitude, u know. Just think.. you wouldn't want to have a mate with an ugly and unacceptable attitude/ character in ur group, right? And what would your response be? "Buat bodoh sama dia! Tell that fellow to sit one corner"... this was what i heard!

It's only the 3rd day... better start to be nice, say nice things and watch what u say!

All the best to you!

My last day to "shake Leg"

Today will be my last day to do whatever I want before starting school tomorrow. Infact, I don't have anywhere to go except to the bookstores to get some stationeries. I have a list of "to-do" things at home to be done so that I have less housework to do when I start to get busy with school work.

My Things to do List:
  • laundry
  • iron clothes
  • tidy kitchen
  • wash toilet
  • tidy up the service balcony

But it has been raining non-stop since morning. Was at MR to get the T-shirts for the 16Jan run but not available yet till 10th Jan. Met up with Pear and passed the presents to TLR. They were there with 2 ladies JJ and I-ka and some gentlemen - ang mo's sitting at the cafeteria after their morning runs. Don't need to talk abt the men la...it's the women, and they are not young leh.. yet so active and very very ON! After MR, went to Bugis. Thanks TLR for the lift and Pear Ta-ke, nice talking to you. I will think about talking part in biathalon @ Sentosa if only my swimming improves.

Now I better start doing my chores. But oh, my leg still hurts, too much walking this morning at Bugis, I think. Hmmmm.. so i guess, I better rest first.

My Life in Yr 2004 - Flashback

I don't remember setting any goals or resolution for yr 2004. But I have done things which I don't believe that I can do, like running long distance in the Ultra Marathon. That was something which I can never forget and some say it was the great way to end the year. Started the running fever in April, when Kevin and I participated the JP Morgan-Chase Corporate Challenge. Eversince then, jogged whenever I can. Even during fasting month. Never done that in my entire life. Took every chance to participate in any race there was, like, Terry Fox Run@ Sentosa, Sheares Bridge Run, the New Paper Big Walk and Mizuno Waverun. The Unforgetable one will definately be the MR 25 Ultra Marathon!

Went to 2 concerts in YR 2004, they were Linkin' Park @ the Padang , and Hoobastank @ Sentosa with some good friends. And lately, JiuJian Live @ Esplanade Studio with Kevin's family, aunts & uncles.

Happy Family moments would be seeing both my sis-in-laws , Christine & Serene got married this year.

Didn't travel much in 2004 due to the terrorist unrest everywhere in the world. But we did took a break, went to Laguna Resorts at Redang Island with Kevin's good colleagues in May. In October, I went to Bangkok for a Union Retreat with SingTel/SingPost Union officials.

Unforgetable events shared with friends were going to the Moscow Circus, watching the fireworks from the top of the Clifford Pier Building, a few surprises on my birthday, got ticket to National Stadium for NDP ,trekking from Mac Ritchie to Bt Timah. Also, not forgetting the Midnight Cycling from West to East Coast.

Met up with old secondary school friends and we tend to keep intouch. Still waiting when the Gathering going to be!

I completed my Basic Chinese course . Here, I'm happy to have met a few international friends.

Sad stuff includes :
-Leaving my good friends at SingTel in August,
-My sis losing her sight due to post- operation which she underwent 2yrs ago,
- My dad not well eversince he retired,
- Lost our family cat, Cookie in October.
- My good ex-colleague, Irene is down with cancer.

The worst ever tregedy so close in Asia is the Tsunami Disaster on 26 Dec 2004. It tells me that anything can happen anywhere at anytime without warning! And makes me wonder what would be the best thing to do if we are in such a devastating situation...

Oh yeah... thanks to Bloggers! Meeting up & knowing some good people like Fd and Sukaimi.. Phillip & Pear.

Now 2004 over , I welcome 2005 & set some goals, I hope to achieve:

1- to be one of the better student in Nursing!
2- to run 5km in less than 30mins
3- to run the full Singapore Marathon in less than 5 hrs
4- to run the UltraMarathon again with hopes of doing it at least 6laps.

And last but not least, to be a better person and a good wife to Kevin.
